While in Vancouver, I walked home along a street that ran parallel to Hastings. A quiet street that was frequented by the destitute, the solitary, delivery trucks and wall painting artists. I also walked past a cafe and spent a loving half an hour in McLeoods Bookstore. I finished my roll of film and am pleasantly satisfied with my ‘street’ shooting. The Sonnar 50mm/1.5 gives that pop when shot wide open. It so does. The colors of Fuji Superia 400 are lovely and the Pakon135+ does a superb job scanning. Only once or twice did I need to fix the white balance.
How gritty this color looks on the street? And how warm it looks in a cafe? Like water to a vessel, this film plays to the enviroment it graces.
